Professor. Steiner
is internationally recognized for his work in the area of women's mental
health. In 2000 this contribution was recognized with the presitigous Heinz
Lehman Award, designed to recognize outstanding contributions in the field
of research in neuropsychopharmacology in Canada.

He serves on the
editorial or advisory boards of several professional journals, has co-authored
and edited two books specifically related to mood disorders in women, and
writes and speaks widely on issues related to women's mental health.

Professor Steiner
was the mentor of Dr. Mei-Chun Hsiao of our Department, when she
acted as a research fellow in McMaster and St. Joseph Hospital.
